NEC & Southern Comms at Full Throttle
	The NEC and SCL-backed Porsche 911 GT3 R of Paul Van Splunteren and Marco Holzer achieve 2nd place overall in this year's FIA GT3 championship.
NEC Unified Solutions announced their Sponsorship of the FIA GT3 with the new Porsche GT3 R, giving the NEC profile a turbo boost in the UK. Racing Driver Paul Splunteren set out to achieve great results over the competition races. Splunteren said “Thanks to the support of NEC Unified Solutions, I am aiming to win this prestigious championship”. He certainly meant what he said!
	The competition took place over 6 race weekends, which started at Silverstone (UK) on 2nd May, then to Brno, Czech Republic (23rd May), LeMans 24 hours (12th & 13th June), Jarama, Spain (20th June) and Paul Richard HTTT, France (4th July). The season concluded in the Algarve (19th September) and Zolder, Belgium (10th October). Southern Communications, one of only four NEC premier partners in the UK, also sponsor the car and a number of members from the management took time away from thier busy telecoms operation to attend the Algarve event, where Van Splunteren and Holzer driving the number 61 car finished in second place.
With NEC Unified Solutions Van Splunteren has found a main partner supporting this international racing adventures. Lex de Gier, vice-president sales & marketing at NEC Unified Solutions, is very excited about the new partnership. ”The international racing scene is an excellent platform for us to increase the brand awareness of our company, which operates on the business telecommunications market”, explains De Gier. “We feel closely connected to racing since we are always full throttle to go past our competitors as well”.
	The car was driven by Van Splunteren at the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hour race in June, finishing 7th in the GT2 class and 21st overall after completing 317 laps of the 8.4 mile circuit.
