2018 has been a very successful year for the team at Southern Communications, with highlights including notable award wins and the expansion of our offices in Dummer, Hampshire.
As the year draws to a close, we look back with six highlights to share, some of which you may not know.

In what has perhaps been a difficult year for British business overall, we have not only remained financially strong, but have seen significant growth and achieved a record turnover.
In 2018 we ranked 29th in the 2018 Southern Tech 100 listing, which lists the top private IT and telecoms companies in the region. With a turnover of over £43.2 million, we have seen a revenue growth of almost 20% in the last two years, and have achieved an increase in turnover annually since 1995.

Launch of Evonex
In August 2018 we launched a new and unique hosted telephony solution called Evonex. A reliable cloud phone system, it offers many benefits to our clients with improved customer experience, call logging and both a flexible and cost effective approach.
Ideal for instant messaging, video and voice conferencing, and mobile usage, it’s a truly modern solution for businesses to communicate in an easy and efficient way.

Successful awards season
With over 50 years’ experience in the industry, it’s always a privilege to be nominated and to go on to win several coveted awards. This year we attended the Thames Valley Tech Awards where we won the High Growth Tech Business award, came third for the Top Telecoms Company award, and highly commended in the Thames Valley Tech Company category.
This was followed by the Comms Business Awards where we were finalists for both Customer Service Team of the Year 2018 and Reseller of the Year Enterprise 2018.
Shortly after, we were proud to be presented with the NEC EMEA Best Reseller of the Year award at a ceremony that brought together business partners from over 40 countries.
Then, in October, we received industry recognition as Highly Commended in the Best Business Growth category and were selected as a finalist in the Customer Service category at the Comms National Awards.
At the time Paul Bradford, Southern Communications CEO stated, “I am absolutely delighted with these results. Customer satisfaction is key to growth and we are passionate about providing our customers with the best possible service at all times”.

Added fraud protection
VoiceSafe is our proactive service to protect our customers’ telephone systems and networks from fraud and hacks. Through monitoring and barring out of hours calls to locations uncharacteristic to the business, we can stop the unnecessary costs associated with fraud.
Should fraudsters still manage to infiltrate the system and make long distance calls that will be charged to a customer’s account, we offer a compensation package to mitigate the often damaging financial implications of an attack.

As a growing company in a competitive market, we always look to invest in our staff and facilities. At our offices in Dummer, Hampshire, we have constructed a new building that extends on to our existing offices , accommodating over 40 additional staff and meeting room facilities.
With space to expand, we now employ over 225 staff on site, which will grow further in 2019.
