EFM (Ethernet First Mile)
EFM provides synchronous Ethernet speeds of up to 20Mbps with guaranteed performance.
EFM internet uses bonded copper cables (phone lines) to create the circuit. It typically uses 2 (Dual EFM) or 4 (Quad EFM) pairs of lines to create the circuits. Four lines bonded together carry the signal further and faster.
EFM is an uncontended distant reliant service, with a 7 hour fix SLA.
EFM delivers the speed and reliability of Ethernet without the cost of Private Leased Lines and Managed Internet Access (MIA) and is an ideal choice for businesses who rely on the internet and demand a secure, guaranteed bandwidth supported by Service Level Agreements.
A fully synchronous EFM connection means you are guaranteed the same upload and download speeds and is ideal for businesses that rely on a permanent connection for VoIP, uploading large files and streaming. EFM provides a direct connection from your business to the local telecoms exchange using multiple copper pairs between the premises and the cabinet and Ethernet Network in the core.
Unlike broadband the connection is not shared with other users or businesses in your area and upload and download speeds of up to 20Mbps are guaranteed.
EFM is the ideal alternative where other EoFTTC or GEA are not available and provides a cost-effective alternative to Ethernet leased lines with shorter lead times and without the risk of high excess construction charges that may come from installing leased lines.
For complete peace of mind, EFM is supported by a comprehensive SLAs, a choice of back up connectivity options and provides a guaranteed 8 business hour return to service in the event of a circuit failure.
